  • Tent, Sound, and Residency

The Tent, Sound, and Residency Committee is responsible for coordinating the:

    • Tent location and facilities (electrical outlets, restrooms)
    • Designation of a tentmaster, or person who will supervise tent during programs
    • Arrangements for sound equipment
    • Loaner car

    The Tent

The KS-NE Chautauqua will provide a tent for your community. The tent, which is made of fire-resistant plastic, meets fire codes. The absolute minimum space for the tent is 60 x 90 feet. Along with the tent, the KS-NE Chautauqua will arrange for stage, lights, and backdrop, and chair rentals (approximately 300 chairs).  The tent should be located on flat ground and in an accessible location that is visible from the road.

    Sound

The KS-NE Chautauqua has a budget for sound. We ask that each host community contract with local businesses to provide sound. See page 22 for details.

    Residency

The committee should try to arrange for the donation of one free hotel room and for the use of a loaner car during Chautauqua week.  Please see page 22 for Accommodation and Transportation details.
